The novel narrates the life of Jane Eyre, thetitular character, and her emotional journey to womanhood as agoverness in Thornfield Hall. Charlotte Brontë used the story of JaneEyre as a canvas for emotional discovery and spiritual sensibility,reaching depths previously reserved almost exclusively forpoetry.
